Minecraft: 3DS Version is a 3DS Minecraft released on January 7, 2012 in alpha and May 8, 2013 officialy. It is compatible with the 2DS, the New 3DS and connection with the Wii U Edition. It is available for $29.99 at the eShop, or through game card.
Shortly after the PC Minecraft updated to 1.0, the game was announced on Decemeber 1, 2011, after a five month deal with Nintendo. A demo was released later on January 1, 2012, deemed as a "New Year's present" for $.99. After two months, the demo was taken down, and the next day, March 7, 2012, the game was rereleased into the eShop with the beta stage on. By the time the game was at 0.1.8, over 100,000 had been sold, 28 every thirty minutes. The popularity of the game grew. It was rivaling with its counterpart, the PC version. In a study, 51% of people were eager for the 3DS than the PC for a 2 hour streak, before PC took the lead.
Later, the game was officialy released in the beta stage on July 9, 2012, and lots of updates followed. On January 12, 2013, the game was on post beta, and the countdown to the official release began. In that time period, 700,000 copies of beta were bought. On 7:32:10AM, March 1, 2013, the game released. Between 7:35AM and 8:00AM that day, 1,000,000 copies were sold. Since then, they have been done recent updates.
Gameplay is similar to all the other versions. The normal gameplay is shown on the normal screen. On the touch screen, the hotbar, hearts, hunger, water breathing and armor show. Under it is the Player's inventory, with buttons on the left, showing crafting, armor and inventory. In creative mode, the hearts, hunger and breathing dissappear, but armor still stays. On the left and right, categories of items and blocks are shown.
A new addition is the SpotPass Block, used to play multiplayer and connect with other 3DS's and Wii U's.
